Selma Dučanović is a Bosnian-American actress, writer, and singer-songwriter whose work spans theater, film, and music. Known for her dynamic storytelling and commanding stage presence, she brings a unique cross-cultural perspective to every project, drawing from her background as both a refugee and an artist rooted in two worlds.

Born in Hamburg, Germany to Bosnian parents displaced by the war, Selma immigrated to Seattle, Washington at an early age. Her passion for performance began in childhood and grew into formal training in both music and theater. At Drexel University, she earned a B.S. in Music Industry with honors, while also performing with the Drexel Co-op Theatre Company and studying methods inspired by Uta Hagen, Stanislavski, Meisner, and Viewpoints movement. For her senior project, she independently released and marketed her first EP, What You’ve Done.

Selma later trained at the Atlantic Acting School in New York City, where she received the Practical Aesthetics Scholarship and worked with the acting method developed by David Mamet and William H. Macy. Her conservatory work included a digital production of I am a Positive Person by Danny Rocco, created during the pandemic.

Her career since has included performances in theater and film, as well as hosting and moderating industry Q&As for the Winter Film Awards International Film Festival in NYC and working as a programming assistant for the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film Festival. She has appeared in modeling campaigns for the Bosnian-owned clothing brand Balkan Bred and the Wears in Care Charity Fashion Show. As a voice artist, she collaborated with several celebrated publishers, including Penguin Random House and Audible Studios. (See a full list of Selma’s audiobook works in the “Audiobooks” tab above)

Fluent in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and conversational in French, Selma is passionate about Eastern European and Balkan history. Beyond her artistic work, she enjoys soccer, Formula 1, and is currently learning High Valyrian through Duolingo.
