So Far, So Good: The Podcasts Continue

Today, I wanted to reflect on the two podcasts that I’ve been working on recently with sister, Ena Dučanović.

The first podcast is called Return to the Cant: Revisiting The Expanse where my sister and I watch the sci-fi fan-favorite TV show, The Expanse, and react to the things going on there. The kicker? I’m a huge fan of the show, but my sister has never seen it before!

The second podcast that we’re doing is called Two Pits in a Pod and it’s an F1 podcast. Every week, we talk about the recent and/or upcoming races, and all of the craziness that comes along with it. We do this podcast in the hopes that we can make F1 feel less intimidating for new fans.

The Start

When we first started these podcasts, we didn’t really know what to expect, and we also didn’t really know how to do what we needed to do! The audio issues were the worst. As soon as we fixed one thing, we had yet another audio issue appear right around the corner. Even after all of the changes we made, we are still even now running into a few issues here and there. However, thankfully, there has been an overall net improvement with the audio problems.

We also had to try to find our voice. What do we talk about? How do we structure it? What do we lean into and what do we avoid? I both my sister and I are of the same opinion that we are going to speak our minds and be true to ourselves while we do this. That makes things so much easier. Rather than try to put on a façade, we simply have to worry about being our most authentic selves.

Where We’re At Now

 We’ve come to a point where I think our podcasts are very good quality, and our banter is quite balanced between what we’re talking about while also showing who we are as people. What’s the problem now though? It getting eyes on our work. We’re posting consistently every week – which the first hurtle – but now we must find a way to make our content engaging, interesting, and something people want to listen to.

Looking Ahead

 I probably speak also for my sister when I say: We are having a blast. We are enjoying this process, enjoying what we are talking about, and we hope to take it even further in the future. Right now its just baby steps, but hopefully it grows into something even greater.
